If your fiber connection keeps disconnecting, first check the ONT (optical network terminal) – the small box where the fiber cable enters your home. Look for stable green lights on Power, PON, and LAN indicators. Red or blinking lights usually mean signal issues. Restart the ONT by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then reconnect. Also inspect the fiber cable for any visible bends or damage – these cables are sensitive and shouldn't be bent sharply. If you're using your own router, connect a device directly to the ONT with an ethernet cable to determine whether the problem lies with your router or the connection itself.
When you can't access your account on the GVG customer portal, try these steps:
If the portal still won't let you in after password reset, your account might be temporarily locked after multiple failed attempts. Wait 15-20 minutes before trying again.
Getting significantly lower speeds than your plan promises? Run speed tests at different times and connect via ethernet cable, not WiFi – wireless connections rarely deliver full fiber speeds due to interference and device limitations. Position your router centrally, away from thick walls and electronic devices like microwaves. Check how many devices are connected simultaneously; 4K streaming, large downloads, and video calls consume substantial bandwidth. Update your router firmware through its admin panel. Older routers (5+ years) might not handle modern fiber speeds well, even if they worked fine with previous connections.
High ping makes gaming frustrating. Connect your gaming device directly to the router with an ethernet cable – WiFi adds 10-30ms latency. Close bandwidth-heavy applications running in the background, especially cloud backups and streaming services. Check if anyone else on your network is downloading large files or streaming. Some routers have QoS (Quality of Service) settings that prioritize gaming traffic – enable this feature if available. Restart your router before long gaming sessions to clear temporary issues.
