The most common culprit is file size or format. Imgur accepts JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, and a few others — but the limit is 20 MB for images and 200 MB for video. If the upload bar freezes mid-way or throws a generic error, check the file first. Also, uploading from a browser tab that's been open for hours sometimes causes session drift — just reload the page and try again.
This usually happens when the file is large and your connection drops packets intermittently. Try opening the image in a separate tab directly. If it loads there but not in the gallery feed, clear the browser cache — stale cache entries often conflict with updated CDN links.
Imgur converts uploaded videos to its own format, and sometimes that conversion hangs on the server side. If you uploaded a clip and it shows a black screen or spinner indefinitely, wait 5–10 minutes and refresh. If it's still broken after that, delete and re-upload — conversion failures don't fix themselves.
If the login page loads but credentials aren't accepted:
When the Imgur front page or search just shows a blank area or spins forever, it's often a JavaScript rendering issue. Force-refresh with Ctrl+Shift+R (or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac). If that doesn't help, disable ad blockers temporarily — some filter lists aggressively block gallery scripts.
Posting a comment and seeing it disappear usually means your session token expired. Logging out and back in resets it. If you're staying logged in but posts still don't stick, the site may be under load — wait a few minutes and retry.
