Force close the application and clear its cache through system settings. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Magenta SmartHome > Storage > Clear Cache. For iOS users, reinstall the app completely. If crashes persist after adding new devices, remove them temporarily and add one by one to identify the problematic unit.
Check your router settings first. Many smart home devices work only on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band, while dual-band routers often default to 5 GHz. Split your network bands or ensure devices connect to the correct one. Restart your hub if you're using one. Power cycle problematic devices by unplugging them for 30 seconds.
Reset the device you're trying to add by holding its setup button for 10 seconds. Move your phone closer to the device during pairing. Disable mobile data and use only Wi-Fi during setup. Check if you've reached the device limit for your hub model. Some accounts have restrictions based on subscription tier.
Reduce the number of widgets on your main screen. The app struggles with more than 15-20 active widgets simultaneously. Archive old scenes and routines you no longer use. Log out and back in to refresh the session. On older phones, consider using the web interface instead.
Disable battery optimization for the app in your phone's settings. Android users should check if the app has unrestricted background data access. iOS users need to ensure notifications are allowed in Focus mode settings. Server delays sometimes occur during peak hours in the evening.
