App will not open

If the ABN AMRO app closes on launch or stays on the splash screen, first force-close it and reopen. Then check for an app update in the App Store or Google Play. An outdated build often breaks after bank-side security changes. If that does not help, restart the phone and free some storage. Low space can stop the app from loading encrypted data correctly.

Cannot log in

Login failures are often caused by expired session data, a wrong access code, or a device time mismatch. Make sure automatic date and time are enabled on the phone. On the website, clear browser cache and cookies for the banking domain, then try again in a private window. If you use the app, remove and reinstall it only after confirming you still have the tools needed to register the device again.

Website keeps timing out
  • Check whether other sites load normally; if not, switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data or reboot the router.
  • Try another browser and disable content blockers for the banking site.
  • If pages partly load, a stale DNS record or unstable connection may be delaying secure requests.
Payment will not go through

A failed card or account payment can come from a weak connection, app timeout, or outdated balance view. Refresh the account overview before paying. If the payment screen freezes after confirmation, do not immediately repeat the transaction; first check the account history to avoid duplicates. For iDEAL or card verification steps, make sure pop-ups are allowed in the browser.

Transfer remains pending

Instant or regular transfers may stay pending when confirmation messages are delayed between the app and bank servers. Wait a few minutes and refresh the transaction list. If the transfer still shows as processing, check whether the recipient details were accepted without formatting errors, especially IBAN spacing copied from another app.

Push codes do not arrive
  • Confirm notifications are enabled for the mobile banking app.
  • Disable battery optimization for the app; aggressive power saving can block security prompts.
  • Make sure the phone has signal or a stable internet connection when approval requests are sent.
QR scanner does not work

When scanning a QR code for login or payment approval, camera permission may be blocked. Re-enable it in system settings and clean the camera lens. If the image stays blurry, raise screen brightness on the device showing the QR code or move farther away to help autofocus.

Account history will not refresh

If balances or recent transactions do not update, pull to refresh and wait on a stable connection. Cached data can remain visible when the app cannot reach the server. Logging out and back in often refreshes the local session. On the website, a hard reload usually fixes a stuck overview.

Browser page freezes

A frozen internet banking page is usually caused by a script conflict, overloaded memory, or too many open tabs. Close other tabs, disable browser extensions for that session, and reload. On older phones, use the app instead of the mobile browser if pages stop responding during signing or payment approval.
