Video playback fails or freezes

When streams stop mid-playback or buffer endlessly, check your connection speed first. ARD Mediathek requires at least 3 Mbps for SD and 8 Mbps for HD content. Switch to a lower quality in player settings if your bandwidth fluctuates. Clear browser cache and cookies, then restart the browser. For the app, force close it completely and reopen. Update your browser or app to the latest version, as outdated software often causes playback issues.

Live streams show error messages
  • Refresh the page or restart the app when you see error codes
  • Disable browser extensions, especially ad blockers, which interfere with streaming
  • Try a different browser - Chrome and Firefox work most reliably
  • Check if your firewall or antivirus blocks media content
  • Ensure JavaScript is enabled in browser settings
Search function returns no results

The search feature sometimes glitches after recent broadcasts. Wait 15-20 minutes for new content to index properly. Use specific program titles rather than general terms. If searching still fails, browse categories directly instead. Logging out and back in can reset search functionality.

Cannot access live TV channels

This happens when your device clock is incorrect. Sync your system time with internet time servers. Geographic restrictions apply to some content, so you must be physically in Germany. Check your internet provider hasn't assigned you a foreign IP address. Switching from mobile data to WiFi, or vice versa, sometimes resolves access problems.

App crashes on startup

Uninstall and reinstall the application completely. Before reinstalling, restart your device to clear memory. Make sure your operating system meets minimum requirements: iOS 13+ or Android 7+. Free up storage space, as the app needs at least 500MB to function properly. Disable battery optimization for the app in system settings.
