CSDD Website Won't Load at All

Clear your browser cache and try a hard reload. If the site still doesn't respond, check whether the issue is on your end by testing another government portal. DNS hiccups sometimes block access — switching to 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 in your network settings often resolves it within seconds.

Login Fails Despite Correct Credentials

The personal account on the CSDD e-services portal relies on latvija.lv authentication. If the login flow breaks, the problem is usually a session cookie stuck in the browser. Clear cookies for both the service domain and latvija.lv, then retry. Also confirm your internet.bank credentials or eID card PIN hasn't expired — those are the two main authentication paths.

eID Card Not Recognized in Browser

This one is almost always a driver or middleware issue:

• Make sure the Smart-ID or eParaksts middleware is up to date
• Check that the card reader driver is installed and the device shows up in system settings
• Try a different USB port or a different browser, since some versions of Firefox handle card readers better than Chrome
• Restart the card reader service in your system processes if the middleware shows as running but the card isn't detected

Payment Doesn't Go Through Online

If paying for a vehicle registration or driver's license service fails, first check whether your bank has flagged the transaction. Some banks block government portal payments by default under fraud prevention rules. Contact your bank to whitelist the merchant, or try a different card. Also make sure the billing address on your card matches what's in the payment form.

Page Freezes During Document Upload

Large files slow the upload process significantly, and the portal has strict size limits. Compress your document to under 5 MB and use PDF format where possible. If the page freezes mid-upload, don't close the tab — wait at least 90 seconds before refreshing, since the upload may still be processing in the background.

Mobile Version Displays Incorrectly

On smaller screens, some form fields and buttons overlap or become unresponsive. Switch to desktop mode in your mobile browser settings. Alternatively, rotating the phone to landscape orientation sometimes corrects the layout enough to complete the required action.

Search Returns No Results or Wrong Data

The vehicle or license search tool can return empty results if special characters are entered incorrectly. Use only Latin characters, avoid spaces at the start or end of the input field, and double-check that registration plate formatting follows the standard Latvian pattern without extra symbols.
