Video Won't Load or Keeps Buffering

Slow or unstable internet is the most common culprit. Test your connection speed — streaming France.tv comfortably requires at least 5 Mbps for HD. If the speed is fine but buffering persists, clear your browser cache or restart the app. Switching from Wi-Fi to a wired connection often resolves intermittent buffering. Also check whether other streaming services have the same issue: if they do, the problem is your network, not the platform.

Stream Freezes Mid-Playback

This usually happens when the device runs low on memory. Close background apps, especially on mobile. On smart TVs, a full reboot (not just standby) clears temporary files that cause playback to stall. If the freeze happens at the same timestamp every time, try a different browser or reinstall the France TV app.

App Crashes on Launch

Outdated app versions frequently conflict with updated backend APIs. Check the App Store or Google Play for pending updates. If the app is current and still crashes, uninstall it completely, restart the device, then reinstall fresh.

Login Errors in Personal Account

If the France.tv login page returns an error or loops back without signing you in:

  • Reset your password through the 'Mot de passe oublié' link
  • Disable browser extensions, particularly ad blockers and script managers
  • Try an incognito window to rule out cookie or session conflicts
  • Check that your email address has no extra spaces when typed
Video Player Displays a Black Screen

A black screen with audio playing usually points to a hardware acceleration conflict. In Chrome or Firefox, go to browser settings and disable hardware acceleration, then reload the page. On mobile, toggling airplane mode on and off can refresh the media session.

Subtitles Not Appearing on Screen

Subtitle settings sometimes reset after app updates. Open the player controls, navigate to the audio and subtitle menu, and manually re-enable them. If the option is greyed out, the specific program may not have subtitle data available for that stream quality.

Search Returns No Results

If the search bar on France.tv shows nothing or spins indefinitely, the index may be temporarily out of sync. Reload the page, clear site data in your browser settings, and try again. On the app, force-close and reopen it. If the problem affects only certain keywords, try searching by show category instead.

Geolocation Error Blocking Playback

Some content on the platform is restricted to metropolitan France and certain overseas territories. If you see a geolocation error while being in an eligible region, your device's location settings or DNS configuration may be sending incorrect data. Switch to a different DNS server such as and restart your router.
