When a Geldmaat machine freezes mid-transaction, it's usually a temporary hardware glitch. Don't insert your card again. Wait 30–60 seconds — the system often resets itself. If the screen stays frozen, press the cancel button firmly and hold it for a few seconds. If your card is stuck inside, do not force it out. Call the Geldmaat helpline immediately so they can remotely release the card or send a technician.
This happens when the card reader has dust, a worn sensor, or your card's chip is dirty. Try wiping your card chip with a dry cloth and reinserting slowly. If the machine still rejects it, try a different ATM in the network — the issue is often specific to one terminal.
Keep your transaction receipt. Check your bank app to confirm the debit. If cash didn't come out but money was taken, contact your own bank first, not the ATM operator — the bank initiates the dispute and requests transaction logs from the network.
The Geldmaat app is used mainly for locating ATMs. If it won't load, check your internet connection first — switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi to isolate the issue. Clear the app cache in your phone settings. If the app keeps crashing, delete and reinstall it from the official store. On older Android versions, the app may have display glitches; updating your OS usually resolves that.
The machine may be out of paper. This doesn't affect your transaction — the debit still processes normally. Request a digital confirmation through your bank's app, which logs all ATM withdrawals with timestamps and amounts.
