Banking app login fails repeatedly

First, check your login credentials. The app locks access after several incorrect attempts, usually for 24 hours. If you're certain the password is correct, try resetting it through the website. Sometimes the app cache causes issues—clear it in your phone settings under Apps > ING Banking > Storage > Clear Cache. For iOS users, reinstalling the app often fixes persistent login problems. Make sure your app version is current, as older versions lose compatibility with the authentication system.

Payment transactions get stuck
  • Check your account balance and daily transfer limits in the app settings
  • Verify the recipient's IBAN format—extra spaces or wrong country codes cause rejections
  • For SEPA transfers, the processing window matters. Transactions submitted after 6 PM may pend until the next business day
  • Restart the app completely before retrying. Simply minimizing it doesn't clear the transaction queue
  • If a payment shows as pending for over 48 hours, contact support through the in-app messaging
Push notifications for transactions don't arrive

Go to your phone's system settings and confirm notifications are enabled for the banking app. Android users should also disable battery optimization for this specific app—it prevents background processes. In the app itself, check Settings > Notifications and enable all relevant alerts. Sometimes notification permissions get revoked after system updates, so recheck these after major OS changes.

Website session expires too quickly

This happens when cookies are blocked or your browser runs in private mode. Add ing.de to your browser's allowed sites list. Extensions like privacy blockers interfere with session management—disable them temporarily for this domain. Position your phone camera 20-30 cm from the screen and ensure good lighting without glare. The graphic needs to be fully visible—zoom out your browser if necessary. Older phone cameras struggle with the flickering pattern, so try a different device. If activation repeatedly fails, request a TAN generator device as a backup method through customer service.
