App won't load or crashes on startup

Force close the application completely and restart it. On iPhone, swipe up and remove N26 from recent apps. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > N26 > Force Stop. Clear the app cache in your phone settings if the issue persists. Check if your device runs the minimum required iOS or Android version — outdated systems cause compatibility problems. Reinstalling the app often fixes corrupted files that prevent proper loading.

Login fails with incorrect credentials error
  • Double-check your email address for typos — extra spaces or wrong domain extensions are common mistakes
  • Make sure caps lock is off when entering your password
  • Try resetting your password through the 'Forgot password' link if you're certain your credentials are correct
  • Wait 30 minutes if you've made multiple failed attempts — the system temporarily locks accounts for security
  • Contact support if you recently changed your email address, as the old one may still be linked to your account
Payment declined at checkout

Insufficient funds are the most obvious reason, but check if your card has daily spending limits set in the app. Some merchants require 3D Secure authentication — ensure you receive push notifications from the app. International payments might be blocked if you haven't enabled them in card settings. Contact the merchant to verify they accept Mastercard, as some smaller vendors have limited payment options.

Transfer stuck or not arriving
  • Verify you entered the correct IBAN and recipient name — one wrong digit blocks the transfer
  • SEPA transfers usually take one business day, not instant
  • Check your transaction limits in the app — you might have reached your monthly cap
  • Weekend transfers process on the next working day
  • The recipient's bank may have delayed processing on their end
Cannot access account from web browser

Clear your browser cache and cookies completely. Try incognito or private browsing mode to rule out extension conflicts. The web interface works best on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari — outdated browsers cause display errors. Disable ad blockers temporarily, as they sometimes interfere with banking security scripts. Check if JavaScript is enabled in your browser settings, as the platform requires it to function.

Notifications not arriving for transactions

Go to your phone system settings and verify N26 has notification permissions enabled. Check if 'Do Not Disturb' mode is blocking app alerts. In the app settings, confirm push notifications are turned on for payments and security alerts. Battery optimization features on Android sometimes kill background processes — add N26 to the exception list. Reinstalling the app re-establishes the notification connection with your device.
