If your Open Fiber line keeps disconnecting, start with the router. Reboot it by unplugging the power for 30 seconds, then reconnect. Check all physical cables — the fiber patch cord between the ONT device and the router must be firmly seated. If the ONT indicator is red or blinking abnormally, the issue is likely on the line side, not your equipment. Log into the router admin panel and verify that the WAN connection type matches the settings provided during installation. PPPoE credentials entered incorrectly will cause repeated drops.
After a reboot, some routers take up to two minutes to re-establish the fiber session. Wait before troubleshooting further. If connectivity doesn't come back, check whether the ONT has power and its PON light is steady green. A steady green means the optical signal is present. If it's off, there's a physical link problem between your apartment and the street cabinet.
The Open Fiber customer portal occasionally rejects credentials after a password reset if the browser has cached the old session. Clear cookies and site data for the portal domain, then try again in a private window. If you receive no password reset email, check the spam folder and confirm the address registered to your account is correct.
Outdated app versions often crash after a backend update on the service side. Go to the app store, check for a pending update, and install it. If the app is current, clear its cache from the device settings. On Android, you can also clear stored data entirely — you'll need to log in again, but this resolves most persistent crash loops.
This is rarely an Open Fiber issue specifically — it's almost always router placement or interference. Move the router to a central location, away from walls and microwaves. Switch the Wi-Fi band from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz on devices that are close to the router. For larger homes, a mesh network or a powerline adapter will close dead zones without requiring a new fiber contract.
After a new installation appointment, the line sometimes remains inactive for several hours while the network port is provisioned. If more than 24 hours have passed and the ONT still shows no signal, contact support and provide the installation job reference number — this speeds up manual checks on the exchange side significantly.
