BAWAG App Won't Open or Crashes

If the mobile app freezes on launch or crashes immediately, the most common cause is an outdated version. Check your device's app store for pending updates and install them. If the app is current, clear its cache through your phone's app settings, then restart the device. On iOS, deleting and reinstalling the app often resolves persistent launch failures.

Login Errors in Online Banking

Wrong credentials are the obvious culprit, but the issue can also be a browser storing an outdated session cookie. Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try logging in again using a private window. If you're getting a message about an unrecognized device, check your email for a verification prompt. Too many failed attempts will temporarily lock the account — wait 15–30 minutes or contact support directly.

Payment Not Going Through
  • Confirm the recipient's IBAN is entered without spaces or extra characters
  • Check whether your daily transfer limit has been reached in the account settings
  • Make sure your card hasn't expired or been flagged for unusual activity
  • Try initiating the payment from a different browser or the mobile app if one channel seems stuck
Transfers Stuck in Pending Status

Transfers that stay pending longer than expected are usually held for a security review or scheduled outside banking hours. SEPA payments initiated after the cut-off time (typically early afternoon) process the next business day. Log into your account and check the transaction details for any action required from your side, such as confirming via SMS or push notification.

Website Loading Slowly or Not at All

Slow response or a timeout on the BAWAG website is often a local network issue rather than a server outage. Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data or the other way around to isolate the problem. If the site loads but interactive elements don't respond, disable browser extensions one by one — ad blockers and script managers frequently interfere with banking portals.

Push Notifications Not Arriving
