Login fails with incorrect credentials error

Double-check your username and password for typos. The system is case-sensitive, so verify caps lock is off. If you use a password manager, try typing credentials manually. Reset your password through the 'Forgot password' link if the issue persists. Clear your browser cache and cookies, then restart the browser before attempting to log in again.

Payment transaction gets stuck or rejected
  • Verify your bank account has sufficient funds and isn't blocked for online transactions
  • Check if your bank's daily transaction limit has been reached
  • Try using a different payment method or card
  • Disable browser extensions that might interfere with payment processing
  • Contact your bank to confirm they haven't flagged the transaction as suspicious
Documents won't upload to portal

The platform accepts PDF, JPG, and PNG files up to 10MB. Compress large files using online tools or split multi-page documents. Check your file name contains no special characters or umlauts. Switch browsers if uploads keep failing—Chrome and Firefox work best. Ensure your internet connection is stable during the upload process.

Page loads slowly or times out

Your connection might be unstable. Run a speed test to verify you have at least 5 Mbps download speed. Restart your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds. Close unnecessary browser tabs and applications consuming bandwidth. Try accessing the portal during off-peak hours, typically early morning or late evening. If the problem continues, switch to mobile data to rule out your home network.

Confirmation emails never arrive
  • Check your spam and junk folders first
  • Add noreply@buergerportal.de to your contacts
  • Verify the email address in your profile settings is correct
  • Ask your email provider if they're blocking government domain emails
  • Wait 15-20 minutes as system emails can be delayed during high traffic
Interface freezes during form submission

Save your progress frequently using the draft feature. Don't click submit multiple times—this creates duplicate requests. Clear browser cache or try incognito mode. Update your browser to the latest version. If using a mobile device, switch to desktop mode or use a computer for complex forms.
