Site Won't Load or Keeps Timing Out

If Character.AI refuses to open or hangs on a blank screen, start with the basics: clear your browser cache, try a different browser, or switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data. The service occasionally struggles under heavy traffic, so a simple page reload after 2–3 minutes often does the trick.

Messages Not Sending or Stuck in Loop

This is one of the most reported issues. The chat interface freezes mid-conversation, and your message just spins without going through. Try refreshing the page — your chat history usually survives. If the problem repeats, log out fully and back in. On mobile, force-close the app and reopen it.

Login Errors and Account Access Failures

When the login page throws an error or loops back without signing you in, check whether your email and password are correct — obvious, but worth ruling out first. If you use Google or Apple sign-in, make sure those accounts aren't facing their own session issues. Clearing cookies for character.ai specifically (not the whole browser) often resolves persistent login failures.

App Crashing or Freezing on Mobile

• Update the app to the latest version — older builds tend to break after platform updates
• Free up device storage: the app needs room to cache conversation data
• Restart your phone, not just the app
• Reinstall if crashes happen every session

Slow Responses and High Latency

If the AI takes forever to reply, the issue is usually server load on their end — especially during peak evening hours. Switching from the browser version to the app (or vice versa) sometimes helps. Keeping only one active chat tab also reduces response delays.

Account Subscription Not Reflecting

Paid for Character.AI+ but the features aren't showing up? First, check your email for a payment confirmation. Then log out and back in — subscription status syncs on re-authentication. If it still doesn't update after 15 minutes, contact support directly through the in-app menu with your transaction ID ready.
