Game Won't Launch or Crashes on Startup

If the game refuses to start or closes immediately after the splash screen, the first thing to check is the integrity of game files. In Steam: right-click the game → Properties → Local Files → Verify integrity. On Epic Games Launcher, use the 'Verify' option from the game's menu. Also make sure your GPU drivers are up to date — outdated drivers cause the majority of launch failures.

High Ping and Lag During Matches

High latency in Dead by Daylight is usually tied to server region mismatch or local network issues. Try these steps:

  • Restart your router and connect via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi
  • Close background apps that consume bandwidth (browsers, streaming services, cloud sync)
  • Check if the game's dedicated servers are under load — official status is available at status.deadbydaylight.com
  • In-game, make sure the matchmaking region is set to the closest one to your location
Failed to Connect to Online Services

This error usually means the game can't reach Behaviour's backend. Wait a few minutes and try again — short outages happen. If the problem persists, flush your DNS: open Command Prompt and run 'ipconfig /flushdns'. On consoles, try rebuilding the database or restarting the network settings.

Purchase Not Going Through

If Auric Cells or DLC won't purchase, the issue is typically on the platform side — Steam, PlayStation Store, or Xbox. Confirm your payment method is valid and has no holds. Sometimes logging out of the store and back in clears the stuck session.

Stuck on Loading Screen
  • Verify game files as described above
  • Delete the game's local cache folder (found in AppData on PC)
  • Temporarily disable antivirus — it occasionally blocks game processes
  • Reinstall any missing Visual C++ or DirectX redistributables via the game's installation folder
Crossplay Invites Not Working

If friends on other platforms aren't receiving invites, double-check that crossplay is enabled in the game settings for all parties. The feature requires everyone to have it turned on. Also confirm friend codes are entered correctly — the system is case-sensitive.
