Login Page Won't Load at All

If eesti.ee just times out or returns a blank screen, start with the basics: clear your browser cache and cookies, then try a hard reload. The portal relies heavily on session cookies, so an outdated cache can silently block the initial connection. Chromium-based browsers occasionally conflict with the site's authentication scripts — switching to Firefox often resolves this immediately.

ID Card or Mobile-ID Not Recognized

This is the most common login blocker. For ID card issues, check that the card reader driver and ID software are up to date — the DigiDoc client needs to match the current certificate profile. If Mobile-ID or Smart-ID just spins and never responds, the problem is usually a mismatch between your SIM-card certificate status and the authentication server. Contact your mobile operator to verify the Mobile-ID service is active on your account.

Session Expires Before You Finish

The portal enforces short session timeouts for security reasons. If you're filling out a long form and get kicked out, there's no magic fix — but you can reduce the risk by preparing all required documents and data before starting. Avoid leaving the browser tab idle. Some users report that background tabs refreshing other pages can also trigger premature session termination.

State Services Page Returns an Error
  • Check the Estonian government system status page for scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Disable browser extensions, especially ad blockers and script managers, which can interfere with the portal's dynamic content.
  • Make sure your system clock is accurate — certificate validation fails when the local time is off by more than a few minutes.
  • Try accessing the service from a different network, such as mobile data instead of your home Wi-Fi, to rule out ISP-level DNS issues.
Uploaded Documents Don't Appear

After uploading a file, if the confirmation never shows, the session may have dropped mid-transfer. File size limits apply, and PDFs above a few megabytes sometimes stall silently. Compress the document, rename it to avoid special characters in the filename, and re-upload. Refreshing the page to check upload status without re-submitting usually requires navigating back through the form flow.

Payments Failing at Checkout

Bank link payments on eesti.ee depend on a redirect chain between the portal and your bank's interface. If the payment page doesn't load or the redirect loops, clear third-party cookies and make sure your bank's domain isn't blocked by your browser's privacy settings. Completing the payment in a private browsing window isolates the session and often resolves redirect failures.
