If Instagram closes immediately after opening, start with the basics: force-quit the app, then relaunch. If that doesn't help, clear the app cache — on Android go to Settings → Apps → Instagram → Clear Cache. On iOS, the only real option is to reinstall the app. Also check whether your OS version is still supported; Instagram periodically drops support for older versions.
This is almost always a connectivity issue, not a server problem. Check your signal bars and try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If pages load in a browser but Instagram stays stuck, the app's local cache is likely corrupted — clearing it usually fixes things on Android. On iPhone, logging out and back in often does the trick.
If you're getting an 'Incorrect password' message and you're sure the password is right, try resetting it via email or SMS. Sometimes the app itself is the problem — open Instagram in a mobile browser and try logging in there. Two-factor authentication issues are common too: if you're not receiving the SMS code, check that your number is correct in the account settings.
Upload failures usually come down to one of these:
Update the app first, then retry on a stable Wi-Fi connection.
Direct messages stuck on 'Sending' usually point to a connection drop. Force-quit the app and reopen it. If messages show as delivered on your end but the other person sees nothing, ask them to check their message requests folder — your message may have landed there. Incoming message delays are often server-side and resolve on their own within minutes.
If the search bar shows nothing or keeps loading, log out and log back in. This resets the session token and usually clears the issue. If specific accounts don't appear in search, they may have restricted their visibility or the account may be suspended.
