Latvija.lv Won't Load at All

If the portal doesn't respond or shows a timeout error, start with the basics. Clear your browser cache and cookies — outdated cached data is one of the most common causes of silent failures on government portals. Try a different browser or switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data to rule out a local network issue. If the problem persists across devices, the server may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance. Check the official social media channels for announcements before spending time troubleshooting.

Login Fails or Loops Back

Authentication on Latvija.lv relies on external identity providers like Smart-ID, eID card, or internet banking. If login keeps failing, the issue is often on the identity provider's side rather than the portal itself. Make sure your Smart-ID app is up to date and that you're confirming the correct control code. For eID card login, check that your card reader driver is installed and that the certificate hasn't expired.

Internet Banking Login Not Working
  • Confirm your bank's online service is reachable independently before blaming the portal
  • Disable any browser extensions that block scripts or third-party cookies, since banking authentication depends on redirects
  • If the bank page loads but the confirmation step freezes, try switching to a different supported bank from the login screen
Form Submission Gets Stuck

Filling out a long service form and hitting submit only to get no response is frustrating. This often happens when your session has expired mid-fill. The portal has a session timeout, and sitting on a form for too long without interaction will silently kill it. Refresh won't help — you'll need to log in again. To avoid losing data, complete shorter sections, save drafts when the option is available, and avoid leaving the browser idle.

  • File size limits apply — keep documents under 10 MB per file
  • Accepted formats are typically PDF, JPEG, and PNG; submitting a DOCX or HEIC file will silently fail or show a vague error
  • Rename files to avoid special characters or spaces in the filename, which can cause upload errors in some browsers
Mobile Site Behaves Unexpectedly

On mobile browsers, some service pages render poorly or interactive elements don't respond to taps correctly. Use the official app if available, or switch to desktop mode in your mobile browser as a workaround. A slow mobile connection can also cause partial page loads where buttons appear but don't function — waiting for the page to fully load before interacting usually resolves this.

Notifications and Messages Not Arriving

If you're expecting a confirmation email or a message in your inbox on the portal and nothing arrives, first check your spam folder. The sending domain used by government services is sometimes flagged by email providers. For in-portal messages, try logging out and back in to force a refresh of the message list.
