Page Won't Load or Loads Partially

If Overheid.nl pages stall on a blank screen or only partially render, start with the basics: clear your browser cache and cookies, then do a hard reload (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac). Try a different browser — the portal works best in up-to-date versions of Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. Older browsers often fail to handle the site's authentication layers correctly. Also check whether your network blocks government domains; some corporate firewalls flag .nl addresses.

Login Fails with DigiD Authentication

Most sign-in failures on Overheid.nl trace back to DigiD, not the portal itself. If the authentication loop keeps returning you to the login screen, make sure third-party cookies are enabled — the session handoff between Overheid.nl and DigiD depends on them. Also confirm your DigiD app is up to date and that the time on your phone is synced correctly, since token validation is time-sensitive.

Search Returns No Results or Wrong Results

Government Portal Is Fully Unavailable

When the site is unreachable entirely, check your DNS settings. Switching to a public DNS like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 resolves access issues for some users on certain ISPs. If the problem persists across devices and networks, scheduled maintenance is likely the cause — Overheid.nl posts service announcements on its own status pages.
