Buffering issues usually come down to your connection speed or the CDN struggling to reach you. First, run a quick speed test — RTL streams typically need at least 5 Mbps for HD. If your speed looks fine, try switching from Wi-Fi to a wired connection. Clear your browser cache or, if you're on the RTL app, clear the app cache in your device settings. Restarting your router can also resolve temporary routing issues that cause constant rebuffering.
A frozen video with audio still running usually points to a GPU or browser rendering problem. Try lowering the stream quality in the player settings. If you're on Chrome, disable hardware acceleration under Settings > System. On mobile, force-close the app and reopen it. If the freeze happens at the same timestamp every time, the stream segment itself may be corrupted — waiting a few minutes and retrying often fixes it.
If your credentials are correct but login still fails, the most common culprits are:
Failed payments on RTL's subscription page are often caused by your bank flagging the transaction as unusual. Contact your bank to whitelist the charge, or try a different payment method. Also double-check that your billing address matches exactly what's on file with your card issuer — a mismatch is a common silent rejection reason.
If the app crashes immediately after opening, uninstall and reinstall it rather than just updating. This clears corrupted local data that updates don't touch. On Android, also check that the app has the necessary permissions granted under Settings > Apps.
When the app shows no signal or fails to connect, check whether your mobile data is actually active and not stuck in a low-signal state. Toggle airplane mode on and off to force a network reconnect. If you're on Wi-Fi, check that your router isn't blocking streaming ports — some ISP-provided routers have media restrictions enabled by default.
If the search function returns empty results or an error message, the issue is usually a temporary index problem on the server side. Try refreshing the page and searching again after a minute. If the problem persists across different search terms, switching to a different browser can help rule out a local script error causing the search request to fail silently.
