Service info and troubleshooting

Wetter.at Won't Load in the Browser

If the site refuses to open or gets stuck on a blank page, start with the basics: clear your browser cache and cookies, then reload. Outdated cached data is one of the most common culprits. Try a different browser or switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to rule out a local network issue. If only Wetter.at fails while other sites work fine, the problem likely sits on the server side — wait a few minutes and try again.

Weather Map Frozen or Not Responding

Interactive radar and forecast maps are resource-heavy. If the map layer stops animating or clicking on regions does nothing, disable browser extensions one by one — ad blockers and script blockers frequently interfere with map rendering. Make sure JavaScript is enabled. On older hardware, reducing the browser zoom level sometimes helps free up rendering resources.

App Crashes or Refuses to Start
  • Force-close the Wetter.at app completely and relaunch it.
  • Check that your OS version meets the app's minimum requirements.
  • Free up storage space on your device — less than 500 MB available can cause instability.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the app if crashes persist after an update.
Location-Based Forecast Not Updating

The app relies on your device's GPS and location permissions. Go to your system settings and confirm the app has permission to access location, ideally set to precise mode. If you're indoors with a weak GPS signal, the service may fall back to a cached or approximate location. Toggling location off and back on usually forces a fresh reading.

Images and Weather Icons Not Displaying

When forecast icons or background images fail to appear, it typically points to a slow or unstable connection dropping partial content. Run a quick speed test — anything below 5 Mbps can cause media load failures on data-rich pages. Switching from a congested public Wi-Fi to mobile data often resolves it immediately.

Push Notifications Not Arriving
  • Open system settings and verify notifications are enabled for the app.
  • Check that battery saver or do-not-disturb mode isn't blocking background activity.
  • Re-enable notification permissions inside the app's own settings menu.
  • If the issue started after an OS update, revoking and re-granting permissions from scratch usually fixes the sync.
Search Returning No Results

Typing a city name and getting an empty result usually means a temporary API hiccup rather than a missing location. Double-check spelling, try shorter input, or use the German-language name of the location since the service indexes Austrian places primarily in German. Refreshing the page and searching again resolves this in most cases.
