Service info and troubleshooting

SNCB Website Won't Load at All

Clear your browser cache and try a hard refresh. If the site still doesn't respond, switch to a different browser — Chromium-based browsers tend to work better with the SNCB online booking interface. Check whether your DNS is resolving correctly by trying the mobile app as a fallback. Temporary outages on the server side do happen, especially during peak booking periods like holiday weekends.

Login Fails or Account Is Inaccessible

This usually comes down to a few things:

  • Password reset emails sometimes land in spam — check there before requesting a second reset
  • The session may have expired silently; close all tabs and log in fresh
  • If you use autofill, the saved credentials might be outdated after a password change
  • Browser extensions that block third-party cookies can interrupt the authentication flow
Payment Doesn't Go Through at Checkout

Online banking rejections during ticket purchase are common. Your bank may flag the transaction as unusual if it's your first purchase on the platform. Call your bank or approve the payment via their app before retrying. Also make sure your billing address matches exactly what your bank has on file. Trying a different card or switching to PayPal-style options available at checkout can bypass card-specific blocks.

Mobile App Freezes or Crashes

Force-close the SNCB app and relaunch it. If freezing happens repeatedly, clear the app cache in your phone settings rather than reinstalling right away — that preserves your login. Outdated app versions are a frequent cause of frozen screens on both Android and iOS, so check for pending updates.

E-Tickets Not Displaying in the App

If your purchased ticket isn't showing up, pull down to refresh the booking list manually. Sometimes a weak mobile connection causes the sync to fail silently. Switch to Wi-Fi, open the booking history section, and let it reload fully. If the ticket is still missing, log out and back in — this forces a full account sync and usually brings missing bookings back.

Search Returns No Results or Wrong Times

This is often a filtering issue. Reset all search filters — date, passenger count, travel class — and start the query again. The timetable search can also stall if the departure or arrival station name was partially typed and auto-completed incorrectly. Type the full station name and select it explicitly from the dropdown rather than pressing enter immediately.
