ID Austria App Won't Open or Crashes

If the app freezes on launch or closes immediately, start by force-stopping it and clearing the cache in your device settings. On Android, go to app info and clear cached data. On iOS, swipe the app away and reopen it. If that doesn't help, reinstall the app — a corrupted local data file is a common culprit. Make sure you're running a supported OS version, as older Android or iOS releases may cause stability issues.

Login Fails Despite Correct Credentials

Double-check that your phone number is entered with the correct country code. If you're using a PIN, ensure caps lock or number lock isn't interfering. A failed login can also occur when the activation of your ID Austria hasn't been fully completed — check your email for any pending confirmation steps. If the account is locked after repeated failed attempts, you'll need to contact the issuing authority to reset access.

Confirmation SMS Not Arriving

This is one of the most reported friction points. The SMS with the one-time code can be delayed by your mobile carrier, especially during peak hours or when roaming.

• If roaming, confirm your carrier allows international SMS delivery

When using the app to scan a QR code during authentication, lighting and camera focus matter more than people expect. Hold the camera steady at about 20–30 cm from the screen. If the scan keeps failing, increase your screen brightness on the device showing the code. A dirty camera lens is another overlooked cause. If the issue persists, switch to the manual code entry option where available.

Service Website Loading Slowly

Slow response from the ID Austria web portal is usually tied to either your local connection or temporary server load. Run a quick speed test to rule out your own network. Switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data — or vice versa — can make a noticeable difference. Try a different browser if the page stalls mid-load; some browser extensions interfere with the authentication scripts the portal relies on.

Digital ID Not Accepted in Partner Apps

• Confirm the partner app or website explicitly supports ID Austria as an authentication method
• Make sure your ID Austria status is active and not expired
• Update both the ID Austria app and the partner app to their latest versions
• Log out of the partner service completely and restart the login flow from scratch
