Service info and troubleshooting

Server instances fail to start properly
  • Check your quota limits in the control panel. Most startup failures happen when you've hit resource caps for RAM, CPU cores, or storage volumes
  • Verify that the selected flavor matches your project's available resources. Downgrade temporarily if needed
  • Review the instance console logs through the API or dashboard. Error messages usually point to configuration issues with cloud-init scripts or network settings
  • Confirm your payment method is active. Suspended billing blocks new instance launches even if existing services run fine
API authentication returns 401 errors

Your application credentials might have expired or lack proper permissions. Generate fresh tokens from the API credentials section and update your scripts immediately. Double-check that you're using the correct endpoint URL for your region—mixing EU and CA endpoints causes authentication failures. For service accounts, verify the attached policy grants necessary rights for your operations.

Object storage uploads time out
  • Split large files into chunks under 5GB using multipart uploads
  • Check your local network stability with ping tests to OVH's infrastructure
  • Use the S3-compatible API instead of Swift if you're experiencing protocol-specific issues
  • Increase timeout values in your client configuration to 300 seconds minimum
Control panel loads slowly or freezes

Clear your browser cache and cookies completely. The dashboard uses heavy JavaScript that conflicts with outdated cached assets. Try accessing through an incognito window first—if that works smoothly, your regular browser profile needs cleanup. Some ad blockers interfere with the interface rendering, so whitelist the management console domains.

DNS zone changes don't propagate

Modifications take 5-15 minutes to push to all nameservers. If records still show old values after an hour, check that you clicked the refresh button in the zone editor—changes save as drafts until explicitly applied. Verify your domain actually points to OVH nameservers using a dig command. Third-party DNS won't reflect changes made in their panel.
