Service info and troubleshooting

App crashes on launch

If the AirBnB app freezes or shuts down immediately after opening, start with the basics: force-close it, clear the cache (Android: Settings → Apps → Airbnb → Clear Cache), then relaunch. If that doesn't help, check whether your OS version is still supported — older Android or iOS builds often conflict with app updates. Reinstalling usually fixes persistent crashes.

Login errors and account lockouts

A failed login is often tied to a browser cache issue or an outdated saved password. Clear cookies, try a private window, or switch browsers entirely. If you're using Google or Apple sign-in and it loops back to the login screen, revoke app access in your account settings and reconnect it. Two-factor authentication delays sometimes come from a system clock mismatch — make sure your device time is set to automatic.

Payment not going through

Declined transactions on Airbnb rarely mean the platform is broken. Banks frequently flag travel-related charges as suspicious, especially cross-border ones. Call your bank or unlock international payments in your banking app before retrying. Also check that your billing address matches exactly what's on file with the card issuer. If the problem persists, try a different payment method — the platform supports cards, PayPal, and other options depending on your region.

Messages not sending or delivering
  • Check your internet connection: switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to rule out a local network issue
  • If messages show as sent but the host reports receiving nothing, log out and back in to force a session refresh
  • Disable any battery-saving modes that might be blocking background sync
  • On desktop, a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R) often unsticks a frozen chat thread
Photos and listings not loading

Slow or broken image loading is almost always a bandwidth problem. Run a speed test — Airbnb photo content needs at least a stable 5 Mbps connection to display properly. If you're on Wi-Fi with full bars but pages still won't load, try forgetting the network and reconnecting. DNS issues can also cause this: switching to 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 on your device often resolves it without changing anything else.

Search results freezing or not updating

If filters stop responding or results don't refresh after changing dates, the interface has likely hit a stuck state. A full page reload fixes it in most cases. On mobile, closing and reopening the app resets the search session. If the map view keeps freezing, switch to list view — it's lighter and tends to be more stable on slower connections.
